Q: What is the Zone Of Play?
Zone of Play is where we prioritize fun, enjoyment, and pleasure in our lives.
There are two zones that we live our lives in and relate in: the Zone of Work and the Zone of Play. Both zones represent two of the four roles, or half of the energy of relating. There are good things and bad things in every role and both zones, but the zone of play is primarily made up of good, easy, fun, and happy stuff, while the zone of work is made up of equally important but more difficult, challenging, hard stuff. Both zones can be inspiring, and both can take a lot of energy. There is no good and bad zone; it takes both.
Things go wrong if you spend too much time in the zone of play, and different things go wrong if you spend too much time in the zone of work.
Understanding and balancing the zones is the first level in the Relationship Archetype Method; a couples solution that uses the Roles of Relating framework to help couples identify their imbalances and move toward security. The Roles are the second level, and the Archetypes are the third.
